Andra Day (born Cassandra Monique Batie on December 30, 1984 in New York City, New York) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and actress who is best known for playing the role of Billie Holiday in the film The United States vs. Billie Holiday. In 2015, she released her debut album, Cheers to the Fall, which was nominated for Grammy Award for Best R&B Album and the single, "Rise Up (Andra Day song)", was nominated for Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance. Day also appeared alongside Stevie Wonder, who is partially credited for her discovery, in an ad for Apple TV in late 2015. In 2020, Day became one of the most-requested artists among Jazz Joy and Roy Global Radio listeners.
