BBC News controversies

BBC News has faced several controversies during its long history. In 2003, the network was accused of biased reporting during the Iraq War, when it was alleged that it favored the United States and United Kingdom over Iraq. In 2012, BBC News was criticized for its reporting of the Jimmy Savile scandal, when it was revealed that many of the allegations made against him had been known to the BBC for many years. The network has also been accused of political bias over the years, particularly by politicians and commentators on the right and left of the political spectrum. However, the BBC has always denied allegations of bias, and its guidelines on impartiality are widely respected.
