Metal Blade Records biography

Metal Blade Records is an independent record label founded in 1982 by Brian Slagel. The label has been a major player in the metal scene for over three decades, signing notable acts such as Slayer, Metallica, and Cannibal Corpse. Metal Blade Records has consistently released high quality records and helped to shape the sound of metal as we know it today. In addition to their legendary roster, Metal Blade Records has also been instrumental in helping to cultivate new talent in the metal world.

Metal Blade Records controversies

As with any major label, Metal Blade Records has faced some controversies over the years. One notable controversy involved the label signing the band As I Lay Dying in 2013, despite the fact that lead singer Tim Lambesis had been arrested and charged with plotting to kill his wife. The label received criticism from some fans and fellow musicians for supporting a band with a member who had committed such a serious crime. However, the label defended their decision, stating that they believed in the talent of the musicians and that they did not condone Lambesis' actions. In the end, the controversy died down and Metal Blade Records continued to sign and promote heavy metal music.
