ThamesTv biography

Thames Television (generally simply called Thames) was a franchise holder for a region of the British ITV television network serving London and surrounding area on weekdays from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. It continued as an independent production company until 2003.

ThamesTv controversies

Thames Television faced controversies throughout its existence. One of the major controversies was during the airing of the documentary called Death on the Rock in 1988. The documentary investigated the shooting of three IRA members by the British SAS. It was highly controversial due to allegations that the SAS executed the IRA members, rather than acting in self-defense. Thames Television was accused of biased reporting and sensationalism that led to public outcry and a legal battle with the government. Another controversy involved the quiz show scandals in the 1990s. Thames Television produced several quiz shows that were found to have rigged winners and manipulated results. This led to public distrust and a decline in the reputation of the channel.
