The Dick Cavett Show is a talk show hosted by American television personality, Dick Cavett. The show first aired in 1968 and continued its run until 1986. It has been known for its interviews with various celebrities and politicians, some of which have become iconic moments in television history. The show has won multiple Emmy awards, and is regarded as one of the best talk shows of all time.

The Dick Cavett Show has been embroiled in some controversies throughout its run. One notable incident was when guests Jim Henson and Frank Oz were scheduled to appear on the show to promote their new film, The Muppet Movie. However, they cancelled their appearance after Cavett's monologue contained jokes that were deemed offensive to the handicapped. Another controversy was when Richard Nixon was invited to the show, and was treated with a level of respect that was perceived by some viewers as being too lenient.
